How to use Weighted GPA Calculator

A course with more credits contributes more to a credit-weighted GPA. Enter grade points and credits as two lists in the same order. There must be one credit value for each grade point.

Use numeric grade points from your transcript, not percentages or letter grades. Select the maximum scale and check which courses your institution includes. Failed, repeated, pass/fail or non-credit courses can be handled differently by local rules.

The formula

GPA = sum(grade points × course credits) / sum(course credits)

A worked example

Grade points: 8, 9, 7 · Course credits: 3, 4, 2 · Maximum grade-point scale: 10-point scale

Credit-weighted GPA: 8.222222222

Enter numeric grade points, not letter grades. Your institution decides which courses count.

Questions about this calculation

Can I enter letter grades?

No. Convert each letter grade using your institution’s grade-point table first.

Can a credit be zero?
