Calculator inputs

Calculations run in your browser. An account is never required to calculate. If you choose Save to my space, the inputs and optional alternative scenario are stored privately on your profile so you can reopen them later.

Optional community profile

Creating a community profile is optional. Your username and account email are stored securely. Your password is stored only as a salted one-way hash. Your email and optional private bio are never shown to other members. Your profile remains until you delete it using the profile settings.

Community sharing is off by default and anonymity is on by default. If you enable sharing, pressing Calculate sends only the calculator identifier and time. No input values or results are sent. With anonymity enabled, activity shows An anonymous member; otherwise it shows your username. This is public anonymity, not anonymity from the site operator.

Activity is visible for 24 hours, and old records are removed when new activity is recorded. Turning sharing off or deleting your profile removes your previous activity. You can disable activity notifications independently in the footer. Notifications only show genuine opted-in activity; we do not invent users or calculations.

Your chosen elephant colour is stored with your profile and shown next to shared activity, including anonymous activity.

Private saved calculations and family

Family nicknames and birth dates are visible only to the profile owner. They are used to calculate ages and upcoming birthdays. They are never included in community activity or friend links. Delete individual records in My space, or delete your profile to remove all saved calculations and family records.

Friend comparison links contain only the chosen result, calculator identifier and elephant colour. Including your username is optional and off by default. Links exclude input values, birth dates and private plan names. Anyone receiving the link can read or forward that snapshot, even after you delete the original saved calculation.

Friends & groups

Private groups require an accepted invitation. Exact username or email matching does not expose a public user directory. Members see the group roster and numbers you submit. Anonymous entries hide your username, but are still linked to your account. Calculator inputs are shared only when explicitly selected or used as a group example. Family quizzes share only the combined age, without names or birth dates. Leaving a group removes your contributions and reactions. Deleting your profile also removes your owned groups.

Language preferences

Your chosen language is saved only in this browser. When switching languages, current form values may be kept temporarily in this tab so the same calculation can continue. These values are not sent to us and are removed after the switch or when the tab closes.

Sharing a result

Sharing is optional. Most shared links place inputs after the # symbol. That part is not sent in the HTTP request, but anyone receiving the link can read the shared values. Birth dates are excluded from shared age-calculator links and text.

Choosing WhatsApp passes the selected result text and link to that service. Review the message before sending and consult WhatsApp’s privacy policy.

Hosting and security

Hosting receives technical request data, including an IP address and request metadata, to deliver the pages and protect the service. Technical logs are separate from calculator inputs.

Email contact

Email is handled using Google Gmail. We process your email address and message to reply, handle corrections and keep necessary records of the enquiry. There is no mailing list.

Why we process this information

For website delivery, security and ordinary enquiries, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating a secure service and responding to messages, under GDPR Article 6(1)(f). We use only the information needed for those purposes.

Retention

We keep email correspondence while an enquiry is being handled and only as long as needed for relevant follow-up or applicable record-keeping duties. Technical information is retained according to the hosting provider’s documented security and retention practices.

Providers and international processing

The hosting and email providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Their privacy information explains processing locations and applicable transfer safeguards. Calculator values are not uploaded to these providers for calculation.

Cookies, advertising and analytics

This version loads no advertising or analytics scripts and sets no optional tracking cookies. The hosting provider may use necessary security cookies. Before adding advertising or analytics, we will update this policy and provide the required choices.

Your rights

Where GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction of personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights have legal limits. Contact us using the email above; you can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency.

Changes

We review this policy when the site’s processing or providers change. The effective date is shown above.
