How to use Required Exam Score Calculator

Your current coursework average contributes the part of the grade outside the final exam. The tool solves the weighted-average equation for the remaining exam score. Enter the final’s percentage of the overall grade, not its maximum marks.

A required score above 100% means the target is unreachable with the given weighting. A value below zero means your completed coursework already secures the target in this model, even with a zero final-exam score.

The formula

Required exam score = [target − current average × (1 − exam weight)] / exam weight Use weight as a decimal fraction

A worked example

Current coursework average (%): 70 · Final-exam weight (%): 40 · Target overall result (%): 80

Required final-exam score: 95%

Assumes the current coursework average covers the portion outside the final exam.
