How to use Volume Converter

A gallon has different definitions in the US and imperial systems. Select the labelled unit that matches your source; substituting one for the other changes the result considerably. US fluid ounces are volume units, not ordinary ounces of mass.

The tool converts volume without using density. A litre of water and a litre of oil can have different masses, so it cannot convert litres into kilograms.

The formula

Result = volume × source-unit litres / target-unit litres 1 cubic metre = 1000 litres
