How to use Mileage Calculator
Mileage in km/l shows the distance covered per litre; a larger value means less fuel used for the same distance. Litres per 100 km expresses the inverse relationship, where a smaller value means less fuel consumption.
Use the actual fuel consumed during the measured distance. A tank-to-tank measurement is usually more useful than entering the fuel tank’s capacity. This tool checks arithmetic and does not account for measurement errors or changing driving conditions.
The formula
A worked example
Distance travelled (km): 450 · Fuel used (litres): 25
Fuel mileage: 18 km/l
Questions about this calculation
Is higher mileage better?
For km/l, higher means farther per litre. For litres per 100 km, lower means less fuel used.
Can I use my fuel tank capacity?
Only if that full quantity was consumed over the measured distance.
